Junior Promotions
Junior promotion procedures apply to promotions from:
- Instructor to Assistant Professor
- Resident or Fellow to Instructor or Assistant Professor
- Postdoctoral Research Scientist to Associate Research Scientist
Procedure: Once you have received approval by your supervisor and your Division Chief (Getting Started), your Division Chief will write a Nomination letter proposing your promotion in a specific track and title (Academic Titles). The Nomination letter and your CV (See Application Materials, for specific formatting) will be reviewed by the Vice Chair for Academic Affairs who will make the final decision as to your promotion and the appropriate title.
Timeline: Applications for Junior Promotions can be submitted at any time and will be evaluated on an ongoing basis throughout the year by the Department of Psychiatry Faculty Affairs Committee. If approved promotions will usually go into effect on July 1 of that academic year.
