About Us

The Office of Faculty Affairs for the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry consists of a team of faculty members and administrative staff. The Office is headed by Dr. Scott Stroup, the Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs and Chair of the Committee on Appointments and Promotions (COAP) in Psychiatry.

The main functions of the Office of Faculty Affairs are to provide administrative oversight for the appointments and promotions process and to support career development for Department of Psychiatry faculty. Our goals are to increase the transparency of the departmental promotion process, facilitate access to opportunities for professional skills development and to work with the faculty to develop policies that support a culture of transparency and diversity within the department. For department faculty, the Office offers an additional channel for  discussion and troubleshooting on career related issues.
