"Some trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming young people have been able to explore and better understand themselves and their identities during lockdown," Dr. Jeffrey Cohen explains.
Columbia Psychiatry researchers have been working on solutions to remedy increased anxiety, depression, and even suicide as a direct result of the economic downturn.
“I know there was a dip in experimental productivity initially, but in the last six weeks, I think we’re almost back to normal,” says Dr. David Sulzer.
"Today, there isn’t anyone who can honestly say, “Everything’s great! No problems at all!” in response to the “What’s up?” query," write Dr. Deborah Cabaniss.
"Why are police in this situation to begin with? That's not what they're trained for, and we see a lot of bad things happen as a result," said Dr. Jeffrey Lieberman.
“Kids are seeing loss in many different ways,” Dr. Elena Lister said. “They’re surrounded by it — in the news, their parents are talking about it — it’s so unlike regular life."
Excited delirium has no standard definition. The commonly cited characteristics include superhuman strength, imperviousness to pain and wild, uncontrollable behavior, said Dr. Paul S. Appelbaum.
