“Anhedonia is a symptom that is really hard to move around from a clinical perspective, so finding out what may underlie it is really savvy,” says Dr. Randy Auerbach.

“We are only recently starting to understand the mechanisms by which the serotonin system may impact social function and repetitive behavior,” says Dr. Jeremy Veenstra-VanderWeele.
“Relationships are reciprocal,” says Dr. Laura Mufson. “If one child isn’t doing well, if they’re more irritable—it’s affecting their behavior that impacts the rest of the people in the family.”
“It isn’t about how much time you spend at church, or which particular religion you are, it’s having an inner belief that gives you strength that manifests in your behavior," said Dr. Myrna Weissman.
Researchers at Columbia University have found new evidence of how certain transport proteins are working at the molecular level, paving the way for new drugs to treat psychiatric disorders.
