All Residents

Adult Psychiatry Grand Rounds – Rotates among faculty, invited speakers and residents – Weekly for 11 months of the year, excluding holidays.

PGY 1-4 Orientation – Held during the first weeks of the academic year, this offers administrative orientation, as well as sessions on wellness, managing fatigue, hand-offs, psychiatric emergencies, and reporting sentinel events.

PGY1-4Resident Council Meeting – Led by the Chief Residents, this weekly meeting brings residents together for community building, feedback and subcommittee (QI, Wellness, DEI, Research, Media, Curriculum) reports.

PGY 1-4 Conferences – These weekly conferences, often led by Resident Council sub-committees, bring together PGY1 through 4 residents for sessions on wellness, ethics, DEI professionalism, PRITE review, mentorship, and research opportunities.

Senior Seminar – Drs. Melissa Arbuckle, Deborah Cabaniss, and David Leonardo (4 sessions) – All residents who complete PGY1-4 years in the residency are required to complete an independent project prior to graduation. In this course, senior residents give semi-formal presentations describing academic projects they have worked on throughout residency training.

Integrated Case-Based Learning Sessions– Monthly sessions, held in the 2nd half of the year, bring multiple experts together for integrated learning sessions based on clinical material presented by residents.

Process Group – Each PGY group has its own weekly, in-person facilitated process group.

Research Roundtable – Drs. Melissa Arbuckle and David Leonardo – Residents from all years who are involved in research come together monthly to exchange ideas and to learn techniques and tools essential for scholarly/research work in psychiatry.

Psychiatric Spanish– Dr. Catherine Castro – To hone their ability to conduct language concordant care, residents who are fluent in Spanish meet monthly for a case-based session conducted entirely in Spanish.
