For Patients

The Columbia Psychoanalytic Center is not a treatment facility. We train psychoanalysts, psychotherapists, and psychoanalytic educators. But our analysts-in-training are often able to accept patients for psychoanalysis–including adults, adolescents, and children–in their private practice. These analysts are licensed psychologists and psychiatrists who have completed their clinical training and have returned to Columbia for additional postdoctoral training in psychoanalysis. They represent a select, accomplished group of clinicians. As analysts-in-training, their clinical work is conducted with the consultation of our senior faculty. Because these clinicians are pursuing further education, they may have the ability to offer treatment on a sliding scale.

Psychoanalysis consists of three or more sessions per week, generally ongoing over several years, though some treatments–especially for young adults, children, and teens–may be of shorter duration.

If you would like to connect with one of our analysts-in-training, you may reach us at psychoanalysis@cumc.columbia.edu.
