About Us
Our Mission
A school of Columbia’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and an integral component of its Department of Psychiatry, the Center seeks to promote the health of individuals, families, and communities by
- providing the highest caliber training to a diverse group of clinicians in the alleviation of distress through modern, psychoanalytically-informed treatments;
- advancing our understanding of the mind, human relationships, and society; and
- through interdisciplinary dialogue, bringing analytic ideas to our professions and the world.
Our core commitments include the promotion of analytic inquiry, curiosity, and humility; the critical and creative study of an evolving and broad range of theoretical approaches; and the foundational importance of building belonging among all our members through the ethical practices of equity and inclusion.
