The Center for OCD and Related Disorders at the New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) in New York City, directed by Blair Simpson, MD, PhD, seeks to hire postdoctoral fellows, for a minimum 2-year position, to start Summer/Fall, 2024. Salary commensurate with training and experience.
This position will involve joining Dr. Simpson’s clinical research program, which is focused on translating neuroscience into new treatments for anxiety and OCD and disseminating evidence-based treatments into clinical practice. Candidates will participate in a variety of research studies (see http://columbiapsychiatry.org/ocd) including a study that is a collaboration with Dr. Edna Foa at the University of Pennsylvania that examines how hormones may alter the brain’s fear network as well as the clinical response to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Other studies are examining novel therapeutics and developing scalable ways to disseminate cognitive behavioral therapy for OCD into community practice. As a postdoctoral fellow, duties may include: project oversight, supervision of externs and research assistants, clinical evaluations of research participants and delivery of CBT (both within and outside of research studies) to those with OCD and anxiety, and, depending on the career interests of the candidate, data analysis and writing of papers and grants in translational clinical neuroscience and/or implementation science. Clinical supervision to meet psychology licensure requirements is provided.
Candidates should have a PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology, or related degree. This position is ideal for someone who wants to work join an interdisciplinary team that conducts cutting-edge patient-oriented research, work in an academic medical center, and receive expert training in the evaluation and treatment of anxiety and OCD.
