Educational Program
The fellowship provides formal course work to aid in learning the basic skills involved in the treatment of substance abuse and in developing and conducting clinical research. Didactic training during the first year of the fellowship includes:
- A core course on clinical and research topics
- A core course on biostatistics and experimental design
- The Research Fellows Methodology Seminar
- Emerging Addiction Science Workshop
- Faculty and Fellow Research Presentation Seminar
- Monthly Division Seminar
During the second year trainees will have the opportunity to begin presenting clinical lectures on substance abuse and research findings to faculty, staff, and to each other. Clinical and research supervision will be formally provided by members of the faculty.
For physician scientists interested in completing the ACGME-ABPN clinical fellowship, clinical rotations fulfilling requirements of the Addiction Psychiatry board certification will be distributed across two years.
