Public Health / Implementation
Effective treatments for substance use disorders that are developed through a collaborative framework between clinicians and basic scientists must ultimately be implemented at a large scale across diverse populations in order to impact public health. In our Division, a number of researchers are focused on examining the epidemiology and public health impact of substance use disorders, as well as the systems and structures by which treatments for substance use disorders are delivered. The goal of this research is ultimately to increase the identification of substance use and co-occurring disorders, and to provide treatments that are not only efficacious within a relatively controlled clinical trials setting, but also effective for the society at large.
