“We’re seeing these increases in the strength of cannabis and an emergence of new types of products,” such as edibles, tinctures, vape pens, sublingual sprays, and concentrates,” says Dr. Ziva Cooper.

Dr. Alan Brown cautions that although there seems to be a link between autism and DDT exposure, the overall risk of having a child with the disorder is low—even among women with high DDT levels.
"Although we can’t prove it is a cause, we are working to learn more about how such environmental risks may be altering brain development and possibly increasing autism risk,” said Dr. Alan Brown.
“Anhedonia is a symptom that is really hard to move around from a clinical perspective, so finding out what may underlie it is really savvy,” says Dr. Randy Auerbach.
“We are only recently starting to understand the mechanisms by which the serotonin system may impact social function and repetitive behavior,” says Dr. Jeremy Veenstra-VanderWeele.
“Relationships are reciprocal,” says Dr. Laura Mufson. “If one child isn’t doing well, if they’re more irritable—it’s affecting their behavior that impacts the rest of the people in the family.”
“It isn’t about how much time you spend at church, or which particular religion you are, it’s having an inner belief that gives you strength that manifests in your behavior," said Dr. Myrna Weissman.
