About Us

The Division of Gender, Sexuality, and Health (Director: Anke A. Ehrhardt, Ph.D) includes the following components:

The Division is institutionally based at the New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI) and the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry. Our grants are administered by the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc., which is responsible for overall administration of sponsored research programs carried out by scientists at NYSPI. The Divisions work closely with other branches of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, with the Columbia University School of Nursing, and with the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health (SPH). In addition, we have strong connections to the Columbia University School of Social Work and the clinical care centers of the Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC).

The Division also serves as a coordinating mechanism for all Columbia Psychiatry faculty engaged with the study of gender and sexuality, while providing critically needed training support to residents, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, professional staff, and community members.
