Teen Anorexia Study

Longitudinal Assessment of Adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa

Columbia Center for Eating Disorders at New York State Psychiatric Institute is dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of eating disorders. We have a new opportunity to learn how the brain changes over time in teens (14-18 years old) with anorexia nervosa. In addition to inpatient treatment aimed at full weight restoration, we are now able to offer outpatient (family or individual) and day treatment options. Interested and eligible patients can continue in their current treatment as well. We are also enrolling healthy control participants. Study participation occurs on one day. We use fMRI with no radiation to understand the neural systems involved in decisions about food. Participants are eligible to receive up to $250 per visit.
