Overview

Dr. Hyler is the senior author of the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire (PDQ, PDQ-r, PDQ-4), one of the most widely used DSM based personality questionnaires, that has been translated into 25 languages and used in over 30 countries. He has published in the area of diagnostic methodology, factitious and somatoform disorders, technology, popular culture and telepsychiatry. He was the psychiatry editor/consultant for Stedman’s Medical dictionary. He has produced the Boards Videotape(Psychiatry) and co-produced the Video Casebook of Psychiatry. He has been the principal investigator on grants from NIMH, NIDA, Dorgan foundation as well as several clinical trials.

He has received numerous awards including the APA Roeske award for medical student education, the APA Irma Bland award for residency education, the NYSPI/Columbia alumni award, and the ARPD (Association for Research in Personality Disorders) award. He served for many years as the president of the NYSPI/Columbia alumni association.
