Maurice Preter, MD
Overview
Maurice Preter, MD is an experienced psychiatrist, psychopharmacologist, neurologist, and medical-legal expert in private practice in Manhattan. He also is the founder and Medical Director of Fifth Avenue Concierge Medicine, PLLC, a private health advisory and medical concierge firm serving select individuals and families.
Dr. Preter was educated at the Universities of Munich, Germany and of Paris, France, received his postgraduate specialty training in neurology and psychiatry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, and is dually board certified in both specialties (neuropsychiatrist). He has published on a wide range of neuropsychiatric topics, including: stroke, sleep disorders, epilepsy, panic disorder, psychological trauma, and the history of neurology in China. Dr. Preter is a member of the psychiatry faculty of Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, Associate Clinical Professor of Neurology at The Mount Sinai Hospital, and internationally active as lecturer, medical educator and as clinical neuropsychiatrist and medical-legal consultant. His particular interest is in the diagnosis and integrated treatment of conditions that overlap between neurology, psychological health and general medicine (e.g., chronic pain, dementia, traumatic brain injury).
Dr. Preter holds physician licenses in New York, Paris, Shanghai, Beijing, and Germany, and is fluent in English, French, and German.
