Overview

Hannah Leo, MD is a child psychiatrist currently practicing at Columbia University Medical Center and Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital on the outpatient Access Behavioral Health Care - Diagnostic Evaluation Stabilization Center (ABC-DESC) team.

She received her undergraduate degree at Yale University and her medical doctorate at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. She completed her adult psychiatry training at the University of California, San Francisco Psychiatry Residency Training Program, where she received an area of distinction in public and community psychiatry and was the recipient of the APA/APA Foundation Child and Adolescent Fellowship. She then completed fellowship training at the NewYork-Presbyterian Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Training Program, a collaboration between Columbia University Medical Center, Weill Cornell Medicine, and the New York State Office of Mental Health. During the fellowship, she received the AACAP-SAMHSA Systems of Care Poster Award and Fellowship and the Dr. Suzanne Munson Memorial Fund Fellowship to promote increased exposure to research.

With a special interest in family therapy, she also completed an externship in emotionally focused therapy and received the Association of Family Psychiatrists Annual Resident/Fellow Recognition Award for Excellence in Family-Oriented Care. She is currently part of the 2024-2025 Public Psychiatry Fellowship of New York State Psychiatric Institute at Columbia University to further her understanding of systems-based community care.
