Overview

Dr. Andrew Lotterman is a Training and Supervising Psychoanalyst at the Columbia Psychoanalytic Center. He teaches and supervises post graduate psychoanalytic candidates, psychiatry residents and psychologists. In addition to psychoanalysis, he has a specialty in the psychotherapy of schizophrenic patients. He wrote a book entitled "Specific Techniques for the Psychotherapy of Schizophrenic Patients" which was published by International Universities Press in 1996.

He received the Alexander Beller Award for this work from the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. Dr Lotterman has spoken at several international conferences including the International Society for the Psyhcotherapy of Schizophrenia and has given talks at numerous psychiatric meetings in the United States. He has published scientific articles in such journals as the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association, the Journal of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Psychiatric Quarterly.

Dr. Lotterman has a private practice of psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy in New York City.

Dr. Lotterman developed a scale to measure Psychological Mindedness and Capacity to Benefit from Psychotherapy which has been used in psychiatric research.
