2000s
Carolyn Broudy, MD, Class of 2010, is a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in psychotherapy and medication management for pregnant and postpartum women. She received her medical degree from NYU Medical School, and completed her residency as well as a fellowship in Women's Mental Health at Columbia. She currently has a private practice in Northampton, MA, teaches at Smith School of Social Work, and is the Baystate Medical Center consulting psychiatrist for the state-wide Mental Health Child Psychiatry Access Project (MCPAP) for moms.
1990s
Daniel Pine, MD, Class of 1994, reports “I remain deliriously happy down here in Bethesda, Maryland, where I remain the Chief of the Section on Development and Affective Neuroscience at the NIMH-Intramural Research Program, the position I took when I left NYSPI in 2000…”
His research continues to focus primarily on pediatric anxiety, using insights from neuroscience to better understand outcome prediction and to generate novel therapies.
1980s
Class of 1988 alum Norman Doidge, MD, is a best-selling author. He book The Brain's Way of Healing is on the latest neuroplastic interventions for serious brain problems. His previous book, The Brain That Changes Itself was also a New York Times bestseller. It was chosen by the Dana Brain Foundation as the best general book on the brain from among 30,000.
(December 2014 to February 2015) 2000s After completing her child psychiatry fellowship in 2013, Jeanne Goodman, MD, opened a private practice in Brooklyn Heights, where she sees both adults and children. Tresha Gibbs, MD, class of 2011, was appointed associate director of the adult psychiatry residency program at Harlem Hospital. She continues to do clinical work in child and adolescent psychiatry. 1980s Laurie Stevens, MD, class of 1983, has “joined the Boswell Group, a group of psychiatrists and psychologists with special interest and experience in advising business executives and their teams. We engage clients in practical, thoughtful conversations on aspects of corporate and organizational life that have complex psychological and systemic underpinnings.” 1960s David Forrest, MD, class of 1968, reports that “I've been delighted with the reception we've had for our Making Faces videos for neurological patients, psychiatric patients and medical and other students. It is a byproduct of my long collaboration with the Movement Disorder Division of the Department of Neurology.” Making Faces is a video designed to help physicians, medical students and other health science trainees “practice and improve their skills in empathic communication with patients.” Doug Skelton, MD, class of 1967, continues on his mission to raise “the level of global medical education” by leading Trinity School of Medicine in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
