Columbia Psychiatry is a world-renowned center of excellence in patient care across three partner institutions. Across all of these settings, our mission is to provide state-of-the-art, comprehensive care to help our patients achieve their goals. Office-based care for adults, children, and adolescents is provided through the ColumbiaDoctors faculty practice and includes traditional clinic-based care and intensive outpatient treatment programs. Acute and emergency care is provided via our hospital-based partner NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital – Columbia Campus. Finally, our community-based services for patients with more severe mental illness are provided through our partnership with the New York State Psychiatric Institute. Teletherapy
Teletherapy makes ColumbiaDoctors Psychiatry more accessible than ever before. This technology allows patients to see their providers from a distance by using a secure, internet-based, video platform that works on mobile phones and tablets.
Office-Based Care at ColumbiaDoctors
Columbia Psychiatry offers a wide range of evidence-based treatments including expert consultations, medication management, individual, group, and family therapy across five locations in Manhattan and Westchester County. With over 175 psychiatrists and therapists and approximately 75,000 patient visits per year, we are one of the largest providers of mental health care in the NY metro area. We have specialized services for mood, anxiety and psychotic disorders, women’s mental health, LGBT mental health and co-occurring disorders, such as substance use. The Columbia Day Program is a unique intensive outpatient program for adults of all ages who need structure to achieve a healthier life.
Child & Adolescent Services
Columbia Psychiatry is a leader in child and adolescent psychiatry with a full range of services for children and families with mental health needs. Our services include treatment for childhood anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD & other disruptive behavior disorders, school refusal, neurodevelopmental disorders, neuropsychology, and much more.
Hospital-Based Care at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital – Columbia Campus
Columbia Psychiatry has two inpatient units at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia University Irving Medical Center as well as a Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP). Our inpatient and emergency programs serve individuals in crisis who need immediate help. Our consult-liaison service also offers consultations to individuals who are admitted to the medical or surgical beds of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Our psychiatrists are also embedded in the Ambulatory Care Network (ACN), a community based out-patient program in Northern Manhattan.
Community Mental Health at New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI)
The Washington Heights Community Service (WHCS) is a New York State operated, comprehensive, community-based program for individuals with severe mental illness. WHCS is located in Northern Manhattan and includes both hospital and office-based care.
