People with anxiety disorders experience chronic and excessive worry, agitation, or panic that feel impossible to "shut off." Anxiety can focus on everyday issues, including health, family, money, or on traumatic memories. Common physical symptoms include restlessness, panic attacks, obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors, irritability, muscle tension, and sleep disturbance. There are several types of anxiety disorders including: posttraumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, social phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. They often cause significant distress and interfere with everyday functioning.
