Elegant outpatient setting on the Upper East Side of Manhattan

Program

The Dual Diagnosis Program provides evaluation and treatment in an elegant outpatient setting on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The program specializes in treating patients with an array of substance abuse disorders who are experiencing psychiatric problems that require the frequency and consistency of day treatment. Treatment is structured within group therapy utilizing evidence-based approaches including cognitive-behavioral skills training and motivational interviewing.

The treatment team includes experienced, board-certified addiction psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers who have extensive clinical expertise in the latest evidence-based practices. The day treatment program is designed as one part of the therapeutic regimen. In addition, the patient is required to be engaged in independent psychotherapy and medication therapy outside the day treatment program. Each patient is provided a clinical coordinator who integrates all treatment by maintaining communication with the private therapist, psychiatrist, (and, when indicated, a designated family member) about the patient's clinical functioning and progress.

The Setting

The Dual Diagnosis Treatment Program of the Day Program is located between Fifth and Madison Avenues on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The elegant setting is combined with a comfortable decor that establishes a relaxed atmosphere. Substance abuse groups run for 2 hours with a 10-15 minute break mid-session. Enrollment is limited to 10-12 participants.

For Whom is the Dual Diagnosis at the Day Treatment Program suitable?

The dual diagnosis program serves the patient with an array of substance-related disorders and psychiatric problems that interferes with the patient's ability to function effectively at work, at school, and/or in the family. The patient may be referred as a result of inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, inpatient or residential rehabilitation, or by a private psychotherapist or psychiatrist. The goal of treatment is to provide a time-limited intervention that facilitates the patient's return to a previously high-level of functioning.
